World’s First Flying Car | XPeng X2

The Xpeng X2 is Xpeng’s first attempt at a flying vehicle and they delivered way better than expected! The X2 can take flight for around 35 minutes after a three-hour charge and is XPeng’s first line of flying vehicles which will eventually lead to the world’s first flying car.

XPENG is a leading tech company that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets intelligent mobility solutions. We explore the diversity of mobility including electric vehicles (EVs), electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and robotics. We focus on creating a future of mobility that uses thoughtful and empathetic intelligence to improve the driving experience.

Being an all-electric car, it does not produce any carbon emissions and contributes to the global effort to do away with ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles in favour of greener urban transportation. XPeng says that the X2 is most suitable for low-altitude city flights and “short-distance city journeys such as sightseeing and medical transportation.”

GITEX GLOBAL 2022, one of the world’s largest tech shows, kicked off on October 10th at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The 42nd edition of the event features 5,000 companies and 100,000 attendees from 170 countries, converging the most advanced companies and best minds to dive deep into diverse technology topics including future mobility. The XPENG X2 flying car, exhibited at the XPENG AEROHT pavilion Za’abeel Hall 3, turned the heads of thousands of visitors on the first day of the GITEX international event.

It learns how to avoid traffic, avoid buildings and people

The fully autonomous flying vehicle can reach the top speed of 80 miles per hour (130 kilometers per hour) and comes equipped with a set of eight propellers. Additionally, it has an aerodynamic water drop design and XPeng Aeroht built it using lightweight carbon fiber. If flying wasn’t futuristic enough, the XPeng X2 is equipped with AI automation. It can be driven manually or it can be set to self-drive.

It’s more like a cool gadget now. The price range for the Voyager X2 is expected to be in the range of $126,000.00 – $236,000.00 USD. The company plans to test-fly the aircraft in Europe in 2022 and serial production will occur in 2024.

While that pricing can be used to arrive at a price estimate for the XPeng X2 as well, the 2024 availability date sounds way too optimistic, especially given the many obstacles that’ll need to be overcome before any vehicle of its kind is allowed to take to the skies.
