Gaming Laptops: How much should you really spend?

A game is the complete exploration of freedom within a restrictive environment and so are gaming laptops. And people are ready to pay high for the freedom they get. And this is exactly what the companies that produce gaming laptops want to cash into. Gamers both demand and deserve novelty. They need something new. As a game developer, one of my rules is there will be at least one thing in every game that I work on that no one on the planet has seen before.

One of the biggest advantages of laptop gaming is that there’s a laptop for every budget. Many of the best gaming laptops on the market right now are highly customizable, and you can get a solid configuration for less than $1,000. There are also some cheap ones which you can get from $500 – $800 but owning a gaming laptop is like owning a car. You have to choose a good one because soon you will be needing more RAM and Graphics for some high-end games.

Low Budget Gaming Laptops (<500$)

Games start from 750p which is ideal to be played in budget laptops ranging even below $500 which is ideal for a student or someone who’s a bit strapped for cash. These are compromising picks to help you make the best of a not-so-ideal situation. With $500, we’d recommend people to hold out for a major sale like Prime Day or Black Friday in the hopes of getting a rare deal on a more expensive gaming laptop.

Anyways I would recommend the Aspire 5 Slim’s Ryzen 3 3350U with its slim and light chassis and its solid performance when it comes to mainstream computing tasks. Asus Vivobook 15 and Dell Inspiron 15 are also good ones with decent specs for gaming.

Medium Budget Gaming Laptops (500$-800$)

If you want to game in 1080p, be ready to pay anywhere from $500 all the way up to $1,000 for a capable gaming laptop. For most games, a 1080p resolution is fantastic, especially if displayed at 60FPS. As it’s most commonly used, there are a lot of options.

If you’re looking to score some mid-range components at a reasonable price, the Acer Nitro 5 is worth considering. Also, HP Envy 14 is a good choice for modest gaming or content creation. But my personal choice is Acer Swift X packing an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU, and 512GB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage.

If you make every game a life-and-death thing, you’re going to have problems. You’ll be dead a lot

High Budget Gaming Laptops(>1000$)

If you want to game in 1440p, you’ll need to spend at least $1,000 on a gaming laptop, but that’s just the minimum. You’d be better off shelling out $1,200 for a gaming laptop. Gaming laptops are MSI’s bread and butter. I would recommend going for the MSI GP66 Leopard which is the minimalist version of the MSI GL66 without the tackiness and flashy RGB lighting.

With 90 FPS in Red Dead Redemption, 100 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 110 FPS in GTA, 165 FPS in CoD WarZone, 180 FPS in Fortnite, and 280 FPS in Valorant, MSI GP66 Leopard is one of the best gaming laptops which can handle any game like a champ.

Dell Alienware M15 R5 provides excellent gaming performance. The Ryzen 9 5900x in this machine is a world-class processor, which is not only good for gaming but also for rendering, compiling, etc.  Also, Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 comes with the latest and the best Intel I9 12900H processor. This laptop also looks stunning and has multiple RGB light bars and other accent RGB lighting that makes it stand out.

Best Gaming Laptops Money Can Buy

Gaming in 4K is like cocaine; I wouldn’t know what either feels like, but I’m sure if I tried it, I’d be hooked. People would say that MSI GE76 Raider is the best gaming laptop but I would go for Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 which is not only is it the best gaming laptop you can buy, but it’s also one of the best laptops you can buy, period.
